I'm learning to trust the Lord. When Paul told us in 1 Timothy 6:12 to "fight the good fight of faith," he wasn't talking about fighting others. He was talking about fighting ourselves. We determine whether we want to have faith or not.
Everyday, I have to make a choice. I can choose to believe what the Lord has spoken to me concerning my situation; or I can choose to ignore him and do my own thing.
Maturity comes when we choose to believe. Believing is having faith.
It's a FIGHT because it is unnatural to believe in what we can not see. If the bank called you up right now and told you to come down because you've somehow inherited $5,000 you would probably leave work to claim that money.
The person that you spoke to on the phone and the bank are tangible objects. We can readily see them, touch them, and communicate with them. Thus, it is easy to believe. This isn't the case with God. God is a spirit. We can't see him, we can't physically touch him, and often times we don't get immediate responses to our prayers. This makes it difficult to trust.
I'm fighting the good fight. Everyday, my mind wonders. I think of ways to control the situations in my life. I am presented opportunities to take matters into my own hands. But I know what the Lord wants me to do. He told me - numerous times. I literally have to FIGHT my own feelings.
I've learned that when it comes to doing something that I want to do, the best thing to do is to NOT do it. EVERY SINGLE TIME I take matters into my own hands, I feel horrible at the end.
Today, I'm fighting....
Lucky for us, God understands us. He knows what we go through and has provided us ways to fight this good fight. One way is through meditating on the Word:
- "Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck" 1Tim 1:19 Choose to have faith in God, relying completely om him. If we don't, our lives become a wreck. Literally.
- "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)" Heb10:23 This alone is enough to keep us. God is faithful to do that which he said he would.
-Hebrews 11 gives us an array of examples of faith. Read it!
- "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." James 1:2-4 We may be going through; but via faith, patience, and persistence we are being made perfect and whole.
- "But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord." James 1:6-7 If we come to God asking with doubt, we will receive nada.
-"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:6-8 This is one of my favorite verses. We can't please God without faith. Period.
As I think of more, I'll post them. Until then, remain faithful and prayerful. God is with us and is seeing us through! Whew! I needed to write this. I've helped my own self! Hallelujah! LOL!

Wise words being spoken.
Don't I know the feeling @ I literally have to FIGHT my own feelings. At times, I believe my impatience gets the best of me. But I am learning to recognize the signs that speak to my heart and spirit, then act accordingly.
Good stuff.
