It's Friday. Thank God! This week has been a good week: no emotional melt downs (lol), no issues. It's been a week of confirmation, affirmation, and knowing. So, what am I thankful for this week?
1. My Job. All blessings come from the Lord. My job is truly a blessing. God has placed me in an environment in which I am able to learn and grow. In addition, the promotion potential is like none other! :) I know that God placed me here for spiritual reasons as well as natural reasons. In the natural, I have provision for bills, food, etc. But spiritually, I've been put there on assignment. I'm an example to those who don't know Christ. He has also blessed me with a wonderful friend. God plucked me out of Alexandria and placed me in D.C. to work. I happen to work with a woman who is around the same age as me, in love with the lord, and lives FIVE minutes from me. The way that we met was just too perfect for it to not be God. So, thank you lord for this job.
2. Family. All relationships have their ups and downs. But there is something about family. They are the next best thing to Jesus. (Well, I can only speak for my family). My family has been there for me through thick and thin and has never left me. I have been selfish. I have been moody. I have argued with my mom and slammed the door in my step father's face! (Yes, I was a hand full...) But all in all, they still love me and are still here for me. I say they are the next best thing to Jesus because they have NEVER left me. Thank you, God, for such a wonderful covering.
3. Sense of Humor. I have the weirdest, quirkiest sense of humor. I laugh at small things that any other person may not notice. This morning on my way to work, I listened to "Come Close" by Common. Remember that song? It's a fly love song. :) Well, in the video, Common is rapping but is holding up huge cards to illustrate what he is saying to his girlfriend who is deaf. There are a couple of parts that crack me up. But this one in particular stood out: He is standing in the front yard and he says, "you even give my daughter love." He then throws the card to the side. HOWEVER, the way he does it, with this goofy smile on his face cracks me up every time I see it! I bet if you saw it, you'd be like, "um... that's not funny."
Last night, I was about to take my contact lenses out when I realized that I was out of solution. So, I grabbed a pair of old sweats, threw on a black, dressy sweater and walked out the house with my head wrapped up in a red and gold scarf... with flip flops! I looked a hot mess. As I was walking through Wal-Mart picking up my items, I noticed two men. I usually avoid men when I see them because they always have something to say. (Not a man hater, I just don't entertain foolishness) Because I looked so crazy, I walked right by them, not thinking that they would notice me. One of the men speaks to me! He asked me how I was doing. I replied and asked him the same. He then says, "I could be doing a lot better..." and gives me this smile. Is this dude serious? I laughed all the way to the check-out.
Laughter does something to the soul. It brightens your day and lifts your spirits. The Bible says that a joyful heart is good medicine. So laugh!! Why sweat the small stuff?
Now tell me, what are you thankful for?

Thankful Friday, enjoyed.
Not only are these some great and inspiring reads, but they also give me a chance to give thought towards that which I am thankful for, at this point of my life.
Your friend at your job, from the sound of it, I'm sure she is just as thankful to have a friend like yourself. Same interests.
I recall Common's video and the part you speak of.

That's the style! You didn't know? Lol. #humor
