It's A Process

Have these words ever come out of your mouth?

Lord, make me more like You. Or Lord, I just want to please you. Lord, take out anything that is not like you.

If you are serious about your walk with the Lord and have a heart for God, I’m pretty sure you’ve prayed that at some time or the other.

Well, guess what? The word says that the prayers of the righteous availeth much. God hears us, even when we don’t want to be heard. And He is faithful to answer prayer. So, don’t be surprised that, after seriously praying those words, all Hades breaks lose in your life!

I prayed those words with all sincerity. I told God that I wanted to be made whole. I told him that I wanted him to get rid of certain ideologies, idiosyncrasies, and sins that have taken a deep root in my life. As I prayed this, I did not realize that I would have to GO THROUGH A PROCESS.

When we go to God, often times, we expect Him to do a sudden, quick work. We expect this because we know that He can. God has all power in his hand and can do whatever he wants. However, if the Lord simply touched us and zapped out every problematic area in our lives, we would never grow. What use would we be for the Kingdom? We would not have a testimony to help others overcome. What would be the point? God would have no use for us at all. He might as well fix us all and then immediately take us to be with him in heaven.

It sounds crazy to say this, but I am glad that God does not work that way.

If you read through the Bible, you will see that God is all about teaching and training. There were occasions when people were immediately taken out because of their disobedience. But you will see that more times than this, God was merciful and gave grace for his people to get it right. In 2 Chronicles, the Bible tells of the Kings of Judah. As I read those chapters, I saw God’s character. Some of those kings were bad and did evil in the sight of God. However, God still loved them. He sent prophets to warn these kings. He even told them what they needed to do in order to avoid His wrath.  Sometimes the kings got it right and the Lord nursed them back into his good graces. Other times, the kings remained prideful, stubborn, and consequently suffered. Not only did they suffer personally, but the people of their land also suffered.

So, what does (should) this mean to you? It means that during our process, we must humble ourselves to hear God. God is not mean. He is not out to get us. As a matter of fact, God wants the best for us. He wants us to be free.

Jesus was sent BY GOD so that we could have life and have it more abundantly: better finances, healthy relationships, sound minds, whole in ourselves, healthy bodies, and more.

Right now, I am in the midst of a process. There are ways in which I operate that are not right. These ways are hindering my walk with God and prohibiting me from going to the next level spiritually. I’m not ashamed to admit it. None of us has arrived yet. I’m just one out of many who are going through.

This going through is for my good though. The same situation has been presented to me over and over again. And each time, I get a little better. But it is through this process that the Lord is making me. Each time, I dig a little deeper. I promise though, I’m going to get it right the next time it comes around! PLEASE!!! LOL! When this is done, I’ll be ready to go to that next level. I’m simply walking, like Mary Mary said.

When all is said and done, I’ll have a nice testimony to share with you all. But until then, I encourage those who are going through to do it with faith and the knowledge that God is with you. He is carrying you through all of this, teaching and training you.
