My Hair is Mad!

My hair is super mad at me. It is dry and it's starting to get those pesky little knots at the ends. I've been wearing my hair back in a puff all winter long. I've been so lazy. And it is screaming bloody murder. So, I decided to lay off the hair for awhile. I put it in a protective style. Protective meaning little manipulation, away from the elements, and moisturized. I really want my hair to continue to grow. My goal is to have shoulder length hair by this summer. And I know I can do it if I get back on track. My hair has grown far beyond my expectations already. So, with some extra TLC, I'll see if I can nurture a few more inches out of it.

Tuesday night, I wasn't feeling very well. So, I didn't go to church (we had a Homegoing service for one of our members). I don't want to put my business out like that, but I had to stay home!! So, while I was sitting around, I decided to deep condition my hair. I washed it and conditioned it. I then mixed EVOO, honey, Jojoba oil, and Carrot oil together. I popped it in the microwave and slapped it on my hair in sections. I then covered with a plastic cap. I usually get under the hair dryer, but I decided to talk with my roomie instead. After I washed it out, my hair felt uber soft and my curls were so pretty. =) I then decided to flat twist it back. I want to do box braids, but I just don't think that is the best look for me. Anywho, this is the end result. I'ma see how long I can make this flat twist routine last.

how beautiful you are =)

the routine is pretty great...but next time try not to microwave the oils...even a little bit of microwaving destroys precious vitamins and the natural benefits of the oils, especially jojoba! just take the container, seal tightly and put it in boiling water until it warms. or run it under very hot water.

i use my own handmade organic products on my hair now and they really are great. it's great to be natural, and great to be natural with what you put in your hair too! i have a balm that i use (although i am currently creating another one specifically for thicker, kinkier, dryer hair and locs) for listed now on etsy. it's in the links section of my blog.

if you can, purchase some geranium and ylang-ylang essential oils and add those to the mix. your hair will thank you =)

you can definitely get some more from your hair...just be super careful in the winter weather!

Aw! Thank you very much!!

Thanks for the tips! I didn't know that microwaving the oils depleted it of vitamins and nutrients. Good looking out!!!

I need to take a trip to whole foods and pick up some ylang-ylang and geranuim essential oils.

I'm going to your page now to take a look at that balm. =)

SO!!!! Lol, jk.
I should try using that on my hair. I have had natural hair for a GOOD minute and still haven't found the right stuff... :(

I tried growing mine back the early part of last year and then slowly just cut it short again. I wish my hair would grow but I just don't look as beautiful with long hair, I think. Anyhoo, if you are diligent about growing your hair in a healthy manner, it may end up way longer than you anticipated. I deep condition with hair mayonnaise sometimes too and that leaves my hair really manageable and shiny.

looks good. This winter weather and indoor heating is MURDER to me hair. My hair is getting to be so dry. How much honey do you se in relation to the other oils.

With the honey, I just squeezed it out until I felt like I had enough. I didn't use as much honey as oil though. Just enough to give it a nice consistency.

I go through these same phases with my hair as well.
