Weekend Update

I had an absolute blast this weekend. Some friends and I decided to go out and have fun. The weather was BEAUTIFUL! Why not hang out on a Friday night? We're in the D.C. Metro area, we're young, full of energy, ready to get this party started!!!! But then, we run into a problem.

We don't drink. We don't club.

We're in D.C.

Christians in the City. <--- oh! I think I have a concept for a new blog. Now, had this been a few years ago, all of us would've had NO PROBLEM. But, we've dedicated our lives to living according to the purpose and plan of God's will.

What do we do?!?!? We tried looking for spoken word spots. However, Friday nights are for dancing, bumping and grinding, drinking: "Love in the Club"

Everything non-alcoholic, non-lustful, non- 'party like a rock star' was null and void.

So, we ended up at Lucky Stripes. It's a club disguised as a bowling alley. When we sat down to eat, the first thing the waitress said was, "Wanna start off with some drinks?"

And she wasn't talking about coke products.

We made the best of it anyway. We ate- the food was good. We observed. We talked and laughed. We met some guys who wanted to bowl. Ha! That ended up being a disaster!!! Let's just say that letting a man, "beat that a$$ and getting drinks afterwards" just wasn't appealing to me.

We leave.

We end up at a pool/game place called Continental. It is empty. Probably because everyone is out clubbing. It was nice. We played games, danced around amongst ourselves being silly, and had a nice time....

looks like a commercial for, "Pantene Pro-V: Relaxed and Natural"

I say start a Christians in the City social event business or club!!:) Oh and by club I mean rallying with a group of believers not a venue spot.

There's a few here in Philly and I haven't gone really but certainly appreciate the opportunity. What I do go to however which is similar is an event called FFF(First Friday Fundamentals) Which are the 1st Friday (of course:)) of each month at a church here called Epiphany Fellowship. It switches up but primarily consists of a topic that's related in the word taught that night, and represented via a movie clip where we the audience get to chime in. For instance a few months ago gospel rap artist Da Truth taught on love and he also ministered in rhyme one of his songs that relates to that topic, the audience chimes in on questions that the emcee presents, that night they showed images of celebs and asked us what we thought about their love compared to what the word says, then we watch a movie clip, I think it was John Q that night and further break it down with the scriptures. From time to time they feed us:):) I love it and now that I think about it, some of the individuals that come up to the event from DC recently started Fourth Friday Fundamentals there which I imagine to be the similar description wise because they've modeled it after the one here in Philly.

Here is the link to their site if your interested:

I'm assuming your in DC not just that you'd visited.

Anyway saying all that to say starting something with your friends can be a fun way to well have fun the way we do it in Him, and rescue the suffering from the same scene they've been freed from therefore no longer desire yet know they can still have fun in the Lord.
